About the study<\/b><\/h5>\n
The study on the <\/span>Lesser Florican Migration Route has been launched<\/b> as part of the bustard recovery programme which is a conservation initiative for the Great Indian Bustard and Lesser Florican.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Conducted by:<\/b> The Wildlife Institute of India(WII) is implementing the study in partnership with Forest Departments of several States and the International Fund for Houbara Conservation.<\/span><\/p>\n Where was the study conducted? <\/b>The study was undertaken in the Shokaliya landscape of Ajmer district to trace the journey of lesser floricans from their breeding grounds to their places of origin, presumably in down South.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Significance of the study: <\/b>This study would help \u200b\u200bexperts understand the ecology and seasonal movements between breeding and non-breeding areas of Lesser Florican which were poorly known at present.<\/span><\/p>\n Th<\/b>e lesser florican<\/b> (<\/span>Sypheotides indicus<\/span><\/i>), also known as the likh or <\/span>kharmore<\/span><\/i> is the smallest in the bustard family.
