{"id":151212,"date":"2021-12-06T20:25:55","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T14:55:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=151212"},"modified":"2021-12-06T20:46:32","modified_gmt":"2021-12-06T15:16:32","slug":"the-learning-curve-why-college-education-for-women-matters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/the-learning-curve-why-college-education-for-women-matters\/","title":{"rendered":"The learning curve: Why college education for women matters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong> NITI Aayog released the first state-wise National <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/one-out-of-every-two-bihar-households-is-multidimensionally-poor-niti-aayog\/\">Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, inline with the global index released by the United Nations each year.<\/p>\n<p>The report has found that a quarter of the population in the country was multi-dimensionally poor or deprived on at least a few of the 12 counts.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>How access to various services varies with female education?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Female college education<\/strong> plays a significant role in ensuring access to services:<\/p>\n<p>On<strong> Adequate Nutrition <\/strong>&#8211; In districts where college-educated females were higher than 2.2% of the population, around <strong>30%<\/strong> of the households were deprived of adequate nutrition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211;<\/strong> In contrast, in districts where college-educated females were less than 2.2%, <strong>42.3%<\/strong> of the people lacked adequate nutrition.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>years of schooling<\/strong> &#8211; In districts where college-educated females were lower than 2.2%, 18% of households were deprived. In contrast, the corresponding it is just 8.4% for districts that had more then 2.2% college-educated females.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>electricity access<\/strong> &#8211; In districts where college-educated females were lower than 2.2%, had 15.9% of households deprived of electric supply.
