Issi saaneq is a dinosaur that lived about 214 million years ago in what is now Greenland.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was a medium-sized, long-necked herbivore and a predecessor of the sauropods, the largest land animals ever to live.<\/span><\/p>\n

The name of the new dinosaur pays tribute to Greenland\u2019s Inuit language and means \u201ccoldbone\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Firstly,<\/b> this is the first evidence of a distinct Greenlandic dinosaur species.<\/span><\/p>\n
