India has successfully test-fired the Vertically Launched Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.<\/span><\/p>\n VL-SRSAM missile has been indigenously designed and developed by Defense Research and Development Organization(DRDO) for the Indian Navy.<\/span><\/p>\n Purpose<\/b>:\u00a0 It is <\/span>meant for neutralizing various aerial threats at close ranges including sea-skimming targets.<\/span><\/p>\n Note: <\/b>Sea skimming is a technique of flying as <\/span>close as possible to the sea surface to avoid being detected by the radars onboard warships.<\/span><\/p>\n Features:<\/b> The missile has an operational range of 50 to 60 km.
