News<\/span><\/b>–<\/span>NITI Aayog<\/span><\/b>\u00a0gas suggested that\u00a0<\/span>government should not rush to lower fiscal deficit. T<\/span><\/b>his would help economy and\u00a0will\u00a0provide a safety net to economy from new emerging variants. While the government has kept the fiscal deficit target for current financial year as 6.8 percent of GDP but it is targeting to lower it to 4.5 percent of GDP by year 2025-26.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Fiscal deficit and what has been its trend<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A fiscal deficit is\u00a0<\/span>a shortfall in a government’s income compared with its spending<\/span><\/b>. It is calculated as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
