Corporates need to acknowledge this disability divide\u00a0and take proactive\u00a0steps.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Disability divide\u00a0<\/span><\/i>is the gap in societal inclusion for people with disabilities, including in education, employment and access to technology.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Problem people with disabilities face while looking for work<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

1)<\/span>\u00a0People with disabilities are less likely to get an interview and are often screened out of the interview process.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2)According\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>United\u00a0Nations\u00a0states,\u00a0in\u00a0most developed countries\u00a0the official unemployment rate for persons with disabilities of working age is at least twice that for those who don\u2019t have a disability.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3)\u00a0P<\/span>eople with disabilities\u00a0are\u00a0paid less than minimum wage, or \u201csubminimum wage\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What need to be done to make workforce inclusive<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

1)\u00a0There should be an a<\/span>cknowledge of the bias that differently abled face<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2)\u00a0Companies need to find the factors that make their hiring process discriminatory to people with disabilities and correct them.\u00a0<\/span>Example<\/span><\/b>–\u00a0<\/span>Microsoft has tapped into a larger talent pool among people with autism by removing the interview requirement for them<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3)\u00a0Companies need to ensure that all employees get a fair wage.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4)\u00a0Getting the right skills for jobs\u00a0should be made easier.\u00a0Example-websites need to be\u00a0accessible,\u00a0videos need to be captioned, managers should be educated and aware of disability.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

There should be\u00a0<\/span>social equity and inclusion for people with disabilities across several different facets of life, particularly education and employment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
