The 6th Edition of the India Water Impact Summit has concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n Organized by: <\/b>National Mission for Clean Ganga(NMCG)<\/span><\/a> along with the Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies(c-Ganga).<\/span><\/p>\n Aim:<\/b> To enlighten the participants on the complexities and peculiarities as well as the scales of managing the rivers across the basin.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Theme:<\/b> \u201cRiver Resources Allocation: Planning and Management at the Regional Level\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Launched a Leather Trade Information Portal: <\/b>It is a unique digital portal developed by Namami Gange and Solidaridad. This portal is a solution-oriented tool that will help the tanneries to self-assess their environmental performance.<\/span><\/p>\n Note: <\/b>Tanning<\/b> is the process of treating skins and hides of animals to produce leather. A <\/span>tannery<\/b> is a place where the skins are processed.<\/span><\/p>\n An MoU was signed<\/b> between <\/span>C-Ganga<\/span><\/a> and the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) for the development of a sludge management framework.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What is the Ganga River Basin Management Plan(GRMP)?<\/b><\/p>\n This plan for Ganga is prepared by the consortium of seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) (Kanpur, Delhi, Madras, Bombay, Kharagpur, Guwahati and Roorkee).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Objective:<\/b> To take comprehensive measures for restoration of the wholesomeness of the Ganga ecosystem and improvement of its ecological health, with due regard to the issue of competing water uses in the river basin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The wholesomeness of the river can be grasped in terms of four defining concepts: <\/b>\u201cAviral Dhara\u201d (Continuous Flow\u201d), \u201cNirmal Dhara\u201d(\u201cUnpolluted Flow\u201d), Geologic Entity, and Ecological Entity.<\/span><\/p>\n Source: <\/b>This post is based on the article<\/span> \u201c<\/b>6th India Water Impact Summit Concludes<\/b>\u201d <\/b>published in <\/span>PIB <\/b>on<\/b> 14th Dec 2021.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
