NTPC Ltd has awarded a project of <\/span>\u201cStandalone Fuel-Cell based Micro-grid with hydrogen production using an electrolyser in NTPC Guest House <\/span>at its Simhadri plant in Andhra Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

About <\/b>Green Hydrogen Microgrid Project<\/b><\/h5>\n

It is India\u2019s first Green Hydrogen based Energy Storage Project.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under this project, hydrogen would be produced using the advanced 240 kW Solid Oxide Electrolyser by taking input power from the nearby<\/span> Floating Solar project.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

The hydrogen produced during sunshine hours would be stored at high pressure and would be electrified using a 50 kW Solid Oxide <\/span>Fuel Cell.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

The system would work in standalone mode from 5 pm to 7 am.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the significance of this project?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Firstly,<\/b><\/em> it is a unique project for India and would open doors for decarbonising the far-off regions of the country like Ladakh, J&K etc, which as of now are dependent on diesel generators.<\/span><\/p>\n

Secondly,<\/b><\/em> the <\/span>project is in-line with the vision of the Prime Minister for becoming carbon-neutral by 2070 and making Ladakh a carbon-neutral territory.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
