The Ministry of <\/span>Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has informed Lok Sabha about the Seed Village Programme (Beej Gram Yojana).<\/span><\/p>\n It was launched by the Ministry<\/span> of <\/span>Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in 2014-15.<\/span><\/p>\n The programme is a key component of the <\/span>Sub-Mission on Seeds & Planting Materials.<\/b><\/p>\n Aim: <\/b>To upgrade the quality of farmer\u2019s saved seeds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Under this programme,<\/b> financial assistance for distribution of foundation\/certified seeds at 50% of seed cost for cereal crops and 60% for pulses, oilseeds, fodder and green manure crops is available for up to one acre per farmer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The mission aims to<\/b> promote production and multiplication of quality seeds of agricultural crops so that the required quantities of seeds could be made available to farmers in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n Components<\/strong>: The various components under the mission include – a) <\/strong><\/span>Seed Village Programme, b)<\/strong> Establishment of Seed Processing- cum- Seed Storage Godowns at Gram Panchayat Level, c)<\/strong> National Seed Reserve,<\/span> d) <\/b>Boosting Seed Production in Private Sector and e) Strengthening of Quality Control Infrastructure Facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n Source: <\/b>This post is based on the article<\/span> \u2018<\/b>Beej Gram Yojana<\/b>\u2019<\/b> published in<\/span> Indian Express <\/b>on 22nd<\/sup> Dec 2021.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the news?
