It was the secretary, legislative department (SLD) who \u201cthought it appropriate\u201d to \u201cinvite officials of the Election Commission to this meeting\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The text of the legislative department\u2019s letter has not been released. What Misra said about high courts applies generally to the polity as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>Conventions and traditions strengthened the foundations of Indian democracy in all its manifestations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The political class should show respect for independent institutions<\/strong>: The historical experience of the ages shows that all political power is inherently expansive.
