The woven fabric of this tribe is known for its <strong>geometric and zigzag patterns,<\/strong> and also for its <strong>angular designs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the application filed, the Apatani community <strong>weaves its own textiles<\/strong> for various occasions, including rituals and cultural festivals.<\/p>\n<p>The tribe predominantly weaves shawls known as <strong>jig-jiro<\/strong> and <strong>jilan<\/strong> or jackets called<strong> supuntarii.<\/strong> They use different <strong>leaves<\/strong> and <strong>plant resources<\/strong> for organic dying the cotton yarns in their traditional ways. And <strong>only women folk are engaged in weaving. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>traditional handloom<\/strong> of this tribe is a type of loin loom, which is called <strong>Chichin<\/strong>, and is similar to the traditional handloom of the <strong>Nyishi tribe<\/strong>. They are said to have migrated from there and nested in the Ziro plateau of the Eastern Himalayas.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"mfp-img alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ne.cab\/tribe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Apatani.jpg?resize=409%2C273&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"409\" height=\"273\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Religion<\/strong>: The most followed religion by the tribe is <strong>Donyi polo<\/strong>, the faith of praying to the sun (Ayo Danyii) and the moon i.e. Atho Pulo. They refer to <strong>Abotani as the founder of the Apatani people<\/strong>.
