However, 49% of the new cropland area replaced natural vegetation and tree covers indicating a conflict with the sustainability goal of protecting terrestrial ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><em><b>Note:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Cropland expansion is a major factor in forest loss.
