State grids were interconnected to form a regional grid and India was demarcated into 5 regions namely Northern, Eastern, Western, North Eastern and Southern regions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then the integration of these regional grids and thereby establishment of a National Grid was conceptualised in the early 1990\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initially, in 1991<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> North Eastern and Eastern grids were connected. In 2003, the Western region grid was connected with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2006, North and East grids were interconnected and then in 2013, the Southern Region was connected to the Central Grid.
