(Members can challenge each other\u2019s declared status)<\/span><\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h5>Have other countries questioned China&#8217;s developing status?<\/h5>\n<p>Yes.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from India, <strong>Brazil, Indonesia<\/strong> and the <strong>European Union<\/strong> have also questioned China\u2019s developing country status.<\/p>\n<h5>How has China responded?<\/h5>\n<p><span class=\"p-content paywall\"><strong>China, in its reply to India,<\/strong> said that <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"p-content paywall\"><strong>&#8211;<\/strong> The concept of developing countries is relative to developed countries, and international organisations do not have a unified definition of developing countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; <\/strong>India also asked China to explain its shift from a stage of <strong>high-speed growth to a stage of high-quality development,<\/strong> as it has claimed. China replied that under \u2018high-quality development\u2019 innovation becomes the first driving force.
