How has the pandemic affected art and the artists?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Pandemic has brought the digital medium at the core of every sector<\/strong> and has made the content creation a more powerful and impactful genre than the local art.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It has brought about the dangers of allowing social media to dictate art-making, while the l<\/strong><\/span>ocal artists struggle <\/span><\/b>to keep their artistry alive.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the onset of pandemic, they have encountered several problems like <\/span>public spaces becoming \u201cno-entry\u201d zones<\/span><\/b>, tackling the <\/span>unpredictability <\/span><\/b>of the pandemic.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This has caused <\/span>emotional distress and economic ruin<\/span><\/b> to the small artists who do not have the resources to bridge the digital divide. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Artists who have been unable to work on the digital space have been left behind.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the way forward?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

The pandemic has forced the art fraternity to face tough questions like <\/span>what it means to be an artist, <\/span><\/b>the <\/span>role of technology, <\/span><\/b>the lack of any<\/span> economic fallback <\/span><\/b>and the <\/span>relationship of the artist with the audience.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Concrete steps are needed to plan for those who are on the margins or have been pushed to the margins. We as a society need to ensure that the art and the artists do not disappear.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is society\u2019s responsibility to take care of its artists<\/strong> and ensure that tenets of social justice are followed.
