{"id":159390,"date":"2022-01-07T20:51:58","date_gmt":"2022-01-07T15:21:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=159390"},"modified":"2022-01-07T20:51:58","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T15:21:58","slug":"cabinet-approves-intra-state-transmission-system-green-energy-corridor-phase-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/cabinet-approves-intra-state-transmission-system-green-energy-corridor-phase-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Cabinet approves Intra-State Transmission System \u2013 Green Energy Corridor Phase-II"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the scheme on Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase-II for Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS).<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the Green Energy Corridor Project for Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS)?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Green Energy Corridor(GEC) Project aims at synchronizing electricity produced from renewable sources such as solar and wind with conventional power stations in the grid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The GEC-<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intra State Transmission System(InSTS) project was sanctioned in 2015-16, for evacuation and integration of the renewable energy capacity through setting up of transmission lines and increasing transformation capacity of substations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Phase I of the Project<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is being implemented by eight renewable-rich states of Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under this phase, the target is to install <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">9700 circuit km of transmission lines and\u00a0 22,600 MegaVolt-Amperes(MVA) transformation capacity of substations by 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will help in facilitating grid integration and power evacuation of approximately 24 GW of Renewable Energy(RE). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u200b\u200b<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The funding mechanism consists of a 40% Government of India Grant, 20% state equity and a 40% loan from KfW Bank, Germany.<\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 99.8647%;\"><strong>Read more:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/yojana-october-summary-energy-security-nuclear-power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[Yojana October Summary] Energy Security: Nuclear Power \u2013 Explained, pointwise<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h5><b>Phase II of the Project<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is being implemented in seven States namely, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under this phase, the target is to install <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a010,750 circuit km of transmission lines and\u00a0 27,500 MegaVolt-Amperes(MVA) transformation capacity of substations by 2025-26.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will help in facilitating grid integration and power evacuation of approximately 20GW of Renewable Energy(RE).
