  1. It helps to understand\u202f<\/span>how family size can be controlled<\/span><\/b>\u202fas population limitation can facilitate the development of a\u202f<\/span>higher quality of life<\/span><\/b>\u202fin the nation.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. To develop an understanding of the\u202f<\/span>influence of population trends<\/span><\/b>\u202fon the various aspects of\u202f<\/span>human life\u202f<\/span><\/b>– social, cultural, political and economic;\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. It helps to understand that a\u202f<\/span>small family size<\/span><\/b>\u202fcan contribute materially to the\u202f<\/span>quality of living<\/span><\/b>\u202ffor the individual family.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. To develop an understanding of scientific and medical advancement enabling to get an increasing control over famines, diseases and ultimately death and the imbalance thus created between death rate and birth rate\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Measures to achieve the objectives:<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    India was the first country to explicitly announce its Population<\/span>\u202fpolicy in 1952<\/span><\/b>. The aim of the programme was to reduce birth rates \u201cto stabilize the population at a level consistent with the requirements of the national economy\u201d.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The government launched the\u202f<\/span>National Family planning program<\/span><\/b>\u202fwith the aim of controlling population growth in a socially\u00a0desirable direction by reducing\u202f<\/span>Total fertility rate to 2.1 (replacement rate)<\/span><\/b>.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n

    4. Accreditation of\u202f<\/span>NGO<\/span><\/b>\u202ffacilities to increase the provider base for family planning services.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. The government is also utilizing\u202f<\/span>ASHA workers<\/span><\/b>\u202fto provide delivery of contraceptives and\u202f<\/span>educate people\u202f<\/span><\/b>in rural and urban areas about family planning.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. School curriculum<\/span><\/b>\u202fhas been designed to educate children regarding advantages of small family, reproductive biology, etc. to make positive change in attitude of children.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
