Government of India has \u200b\u200b<\/span>notified the Securities and Exchange Board of India<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>(Vault Managers) Regulations, 2021 to create Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs).<\/span><\/p>\n These are electronic receipts issued on the basis of a deposit of underlying physical gold. This would pave the way for the operationalization of a gold exchange in India.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Gold Exchange <\/span>would be a national platform for buying and selling EGRs<\/b> issued against physical gold. Investors can trade in EGRs on stock exchanges and the proposed gold exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n \u200b\u200bThe transaction in a gold exchange has been divided into three parts<\/b>\u2014conversion of physical gold into EGR, trading of EGR on a stock exchange and conversion of EGR into physical gold.<\/span><\/p>\n Regulated by:<\/b> SEBI would <\/span>regulate the entire ecosystem of the proposed gold exchange<\/b>.
