According to the <\/span>managing director of the UK India Business Council (UKIBC), the India-UK free-trade agreement<\/a><\/strong><\/span> should include a Data Adequacy Agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is a Data Adequacy Agreement?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Data Adequacy Agreement facilitates the cross-border movement of personal data based on mutual adequacy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Note<\/b>: Adequacy means that the country or territory in question is considered to have high data protection standards.<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
Has the UK signed a Data<\/b> Adequacy Agreement with any other country or Union?<\/b><\/h5>\n

The UK has entered into a data adequacy agreement with the European Union<\/strong><\/a><\/span> post-Brexit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The agreement allows personal data to flow freely<\/strong> from the EU and wider European Economic Area (EEA) to the UK.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a result, businesses and organisations in the UK can continue to receive personal data from the EU and EEA without having to put additional arrangements in place with European counterparts.<\/span><\/p>\n

This in turn supports trade, innovation, investment<\/strong> and assists with law enforcement agencies tackling crime.<\/span><\/p>\n
