This resulted in a new Hoysala Temple form.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Chennakeshava Temple &#8211; Belur<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-165633 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/belur-768x768-1.jpeg?resize=300%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/belur-768x768-1.jpeg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/belur-768x768-1.jpeg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/belur-768x768-1.jpeg?w=768&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chennakeshava Temple is also referred to as Vijayanarayana Temple of Belur.It is a 12th-century Hindu temple in Karnataka.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The temple was commissioned by King Vishnuvardhana in 1117 CE, on the banks of the Yagachi River in Belur also called Velapura, an early Hoysala Empire capital.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The temple is devoted to Vishnu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The richly sculptured exterior of the temple narrates scenes from the life of Vishnu and his reincarnations and the epics, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ramayana, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mahabharata<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
