{"id":166445,"date":"2022-02-04T18:48:56","date_gmt":"2022-02-04T13:18:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=166445"},"modified":"2022-02-04T18:54:16","modified_gmt":"2022-02-04T13:24:16","slug":"nal-se-jal-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/nal-se-jal-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"NAL SE JAL SCHEME"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian government has allocated Rs. 60,000 crore to the &#8220;Har Ghar Nal se Jal&#8221; Yojana for the financial year 2022-2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This significant allocation highlights that providing potable water to households remains a top priority of the Government.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is Har Ghar Nal se Jal Scheme?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was launched in 2019 by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.It is a component of the Government\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/jal-jeevan-mission-3\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jal Jeevan Mission.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Aim: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To provide tap water supply to every rural household and public institutions in villages like schools, anganwadi centres, tribal residential schools, health centres, Gram Panchayat building by 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Implementation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The scheme is being implemented by the Central Government in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">partnership with state governments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme is based on a<\/span><b> unique model where <\/b><b><i>paani samitis<\/i><\/b><b> (water committee) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">comprising villagers will decide what they will pay for the water they consume.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The tariff they fix will not be the same for everyone in the village.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who have large households will pay more while poor households or households where there is no earning member, will be exempted.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the status of the <\/b><b>Har Ghar Nal se Jal Scheme?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8.7 crore households (nearly 45%) have so far been covered under the scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several states and union territories have already achieved 100% coverage of tap water connections under the scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These include Goa, Telangana, Andaman &amp; Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Haryana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, there remains a disparity among states and UTs.For instance, in Uttar Pradesh, just above 13% of rural households have been provided tap water connections.States like Rajasthan and West Bengal have also seen low coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Source: This post is based on the article <strong>\u201cNAL SE JAL SCHEME\u201d <\/strong>published in PIB\u00a0<strong>on<\/strong><strong> 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Feb 2022<\/strong>.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the News?
