{"id":167435,"date":"2022-02-09T19:05:19","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T13:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=167435"},"modified":"2022-02-09T19:05:19","modified_gmt":"2022-02-09T13:35:19","slug":"report-on-mgnrega-raise-guaranteed-days-of-work-says-house-panel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/report-on-mgnrega-raise-guaranteed-days-of-work-says-house-panel\/","title":{"rendered":"Report on MGNREGA: Raise guaranteed days of work, says House panel"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development has submitted its evaluation report on Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act(MGNREGA).<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What are the recommendations given by the committee on MGNREGA?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Firstly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it has recommended an increase in guaranteed days of work from 100 to 150 under the MGNREGA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Secondly, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the budgetary allocation of the scheme should be done in a more \u201cpragmatic manner\u201d so that there is no dearth of funds in mid-year and flow of funds for payment of wages and material share is maintained seamlessly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In Union Budget 2022-23, there has been no increase in the allocation for the MGNREGA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Thirdly<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the committee highlighted the inordinate delay in the payment of wages to the MGNREGA beneficiaries.
