{"id":167709,"date":"2022-02-10T20:06:27","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T14:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=167709"},"modified":"2022-02-10T20:06:27","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T14:36:27","slug":"govt-issues-new-media-accreditation-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/govt-issues-new-media-accreditation-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt. issues new media accreditation guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the news?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Central government has released the Central Media Accreditation Guidelines-2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is media accreditation?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Media accreditation issued by PIB allows journalists access to government offices and official functions.It can be seen as a media pass that allows entry into government offices including Parliament and events which wouldn\u2019t be possible without it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What are the key provisions of <\/b><b>Central Media Accreditation Guidelines-2022?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Provisions for Granting Accreditation:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accreditation is only available for journalists living in the Delhi NCR region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/stricter-policy-for-accreditation-of-journalists-and-the-concerns\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Click Here to read the accreditation criteria<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 No accreditation will be granted to freelance journalists working for foreign news media organisations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Formation of a Central Media Accreditation Committee (CMAC): <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Government shall constitute a Committee called the Central Media Accreditation Committee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Committee will be chaired by the Principal Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB) and composed of up to 25 members nominated by the government to discharge the functions laid down under these guidelines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CMAC would function for a period of two years from the date of its first meeting and shall meet once in a quarter or more frequently, if necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Conditions for Withdrawing\/Suspending Accreditation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A journalist can lose accreditation &#8211;\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; if they act in a manner which is prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the state, friendly relations with foreign states, public order, decency or morality or in relation to contempt of court, defamation or incitement of an offence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; if they are charged with a serious cognisable offence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; if they violate any of the terms and conditions of the accreditation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; if they furnish false\/fraudulent, forged information\/ documents.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; if the news media organisation on behalf of which the accreditation has been granted \u201crecommends the withdrawal of accreditation\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b>This post is based on the article <b>\u201c<\/b><b>Govt. issues new media accreditation guidelines<\/b><b>\u201d <\/b>published in <b>The Hindu <\/b>on <b>9<sup>th<\/sup> Feb 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the news?
