{"id":167959,"date":"2022-02-11T17:36:25","date_gmt":"2022-02-11T12:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=167959"},"modified":"2022-02-11T17:36:25","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T12:06:25","slug":"government-of-india-sets-policy-for-electric-vehicle-charging-stations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/government-of-india-sets-policy-for-electric-vehicle-charging-stations\/","title":{"rendered":"Government of India sets policy for Electric Vehicle charging stations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the news?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ministry of Power has issued the revised consolidated Guidelines &amp; Standards for charging infrastructure for Electric Vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is the objective of these guidelines?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To enable a faster adoption of electric vehicles in India by ensuring safe, reliable, accessible and affordable Charging Infrastructure and ecosystem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To promote energy security and reduction of emission intensity of the country by promotion of the entire EV ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What are the key features of the guidelines?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Firstly, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">any individual\/entity is free to set up Public Charging Stations (PCS) without the requirement of a licence provided that such stations meet the technical, safety as well as performance standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Secondly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> electric vehicle <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">owners can charge their vehicles at their residence or offices using their existing electricity connections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Thirdly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> housing Societies, Malls, Office Complexes, Restaurants, Hotels are allowed to install PCS for charging of vehicles including charging of visitor\u2019s vehicles permitted to come in its premises.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fourthly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> land available with the Govt shall be provided for installation of Public Charging Stations to a Govt on a revenue sharing basis at a fixed rate of \u20b9 1 \/ kWh (used for charging) initially for a period of 10 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fifthly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the tariff for supply of electricity to Public EV Charging Stations shall be a single part tariff and shall not exceed the \u201cAverage Cost of Supply\u201d till 31st March 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Sixthly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> any Public Charging Station may obtain electricity from any generation company through open access.
