The Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment has launched the <\/span>SMILE Scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n SMILE stands for<\/b> Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise.<\/span><\/p>\n Type<\/b>: It is a Central Sector Scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n Aim: <\/b>To <\/span>provide welfare and rehabilitation to the Transgender community and the people engaged in the act of begging.<\/span><\/p>\n The two sub-schemes of SMILE are:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It provides for:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n -Scholarships for Transgender Students studying in IX and till post-graduation to enable them to complete their education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n -Skill Development and Livelihood under the PM-DAKSH scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n -Composite Medical Health and Housing facility in the form of \u2018Garima Greh\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n -Provision of Transgender Protection Cell in each state will monitor cases of offences and ensure timely registration, investigation and prosecution of offences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n -Creating a National Portal & Helpline\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It provides for\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n -Survey and Identification of beneficiaries shall be carried out by the Implementing Agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n -Outreach work will be done to mobilise the persons engaged in begging to avail the services available in the Shelter Homes.<\/span><\/p>\n -The shelter homes will facilitate education for children engaged in the act of Begging\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Sources<\/b>: This post is based on the article \u201c<\/b>Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment launches \u201cSMILE\u201d scheme<\/b>\u201d <\/b>published in PIB <\/b>on 14th Feb 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
