The Ministry of Power has notified the Country\u2019s first <\/span>Green Hydrogen<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\/ Green Ammonia Policy.<\/span><\/h5>\n
What is Green Hydrogen\\Green Ammonia?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Green hydrogen is generated by breaking down water in an electrolyzer. The hydrogen produced can be combined with nitrogen to make ammonia, avoiding hydrocarbons in the production process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Green ammonia is used to store energy and in fertilizer manufacturing.India has set a target to produce 5 million tonnes (mt) of green hydrogen by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the aim of <\/b>Green Hydrogen\/ Green Ammonia Policy?<\/b><\/h5>\n

Aim<\/b>: To <\/span>reduce fossil fuel usage and increase penetration of <\/span>Green Hydrogen\/ Green Ammonia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The policy follows the Prime Minister\u2019s announcement about a <\/span>National Hydrogen Mission.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What are the key features of the <\/b>Green Hydrogen\/ Green Ammonia Policy?\u00a0<\/b><\/h5>\n

The policy provides several incentives for manufacturers, consumers of green hydrogen and green ammonia. These include:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Manufacturing zones<\/strong> to be set up for green hydrogen\/ammonia\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Demand for green hydrogen from key sectors such as fertilizers, steel and refineries would be aggregated and offered as a mega tender<\/strong> by MNRE.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Inter-state transmission charges waived<\/strong> for 25 years\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Open access granted<\/strong> to source renewable energy from anywhere in the country<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span>manufacturers of Green Hydrogen \/ Ammonia and the renewable energy plant shall be given connectivity to the grid<\/strong> on a priority basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 The benefit of <\/span>Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO)<\/strong> will be granted to the hydrogen\/ammonia manufacturer\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Bunkers to be set up near ports<\/strong> for storage of green ammonia for export, use by the shipping industry<\/span><\/p>\n
