The Union Minister of State has said that the government was planning to commence \u2018Purple Revolution\u2019 in Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir.<\/span><\/p>\n Purple or Lavender Revolution was launched by the Union Ministry of Science & Technology through the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) Aroma Mission.<\/span><\/p>\n Aim:<\/b> To increase lavender cultivation in Jammu and Kashmir.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Objective:<\/b> To empower domestic farmers and support India\u2019s aromatic crop-based agro-economy by reducing imports of aromatic oils and increasing home-grown varieties.<\/span><\/p>\n Under the mission,<\/b> first-time farmers were given free lavender saplings, while those who had cultivated lavender before were charged Rs. 5-6 per sapling.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Aroma Mission<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/a> was launched by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).<\/span><\/p>\n Aim: <\/b>To bring transformative change in the aroma sector through desired interventions in the areas of agriculture, processing and product development for fuelling the growth of aroma industry and rural employment.<\/span><\/p>\n Objectives of the Mission:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n \u2013 <\/span>To promote the cultivation of aromatic crops for essential oils that are in great demand by the aroma industry.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 To enable Indian farmers and the aroma industry to become global leaders in the production and export of some other essential oils on the pattern of menthol mint.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 To provide substantial benefits to the farmers in achieving higher profits, utilization of wastelands and protection of their crops from wild and grazing animals.<\/span><\/p>\n Source: <\/b>This post is based on the article <\/span>\u201c<\/b>\u2018Lavender Cultivation\u2019 under CSIR-IIIM\u2019s Aroma Mission to be started in Ramban as a part of Purple Revolution<\/b>\u201d <\/b>published in <\/span>PIB <\/b>on <\/span>21st February 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the news?
