The Government of India has released a <\/span>\u00a0policy document called \u201cDraft India Data Accessibility & Use Policy 2022\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n Aim<\/strong>: To enhance access, quality, and use of data in line with the current and emerging technology needs of the decade.<\/span><\/p>\n Making Data Open: <\/b>All data collected, generated, and stored by every government ministry and the department will be open and shareable barring certain exceptions.<\/span><\/p>\n Indian Data Office(IDO): <\/b>It will be constituted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MeitY) to streamline and consolidate data access and share public data repositories across the government and other stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n Indian Data Council(IDC):<\/b> It will comprise the IDO and data officers of five government departments. Its tasks will include defining frameworks for defining high-value datasets, finalizing data standards and metadata standards and reviewing the implementation of the policy.<\/span><\/p>\n Common Database:<\/b> All central and state government bodies will have to compulsorily share data with each other to create a common \u201csearchable database\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n The monetisation of Data: <\/b>The datasets that have undergone value addition could be monetised by the government.<\/span><\/p>\n Stakeholders like start-ups, other enterprises, individuals and researchers<\/b> will be able to access enriched data through data licensing, sharing and valuation within the frameworks of data security and privacy.<\/span><\/p>\n A data-sharing toolkit<\/b> will be provided to ministries and departments to assess and manage risks associated with data sharing.<\/span><\/p>\n Guidelines will also be framed to decide how l<\/span>ong datasets can be held by the Government.<\/b><\/p>\n Source<\/b>: This post is based on the article \u201cIndia’s draft data policy unlocks govt data for all, mulls monetisation” <\/b>published in Business Standard <\/b>on 22nd February 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
