Some of criteria that are crucial in determining choice of optional are-<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Marks Fetching ability of subject<\/li>\n<li>Availability of books for subject<\/li>\n<li>length of syllabus<\/li>\n<li>Availability of coaching\/ guidance for subject<\/li>\n<li>Comfort ability with subject<\/li>\n<li>Success rate of subject<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>And for those, even if above points don\u2019t hold good and still you want to choose an optional, then still you can go ahead provided you have a belief that particular subject can be completed by you.<\/p>\n<p>So, All optional are analyzed based on above criteria-<\/p>\n<h4>\u2022 Agriculture<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Marks Fetching ability of subject<\/strong>-Fair to good.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of books for subject<\/strong>-Readily available in market, as its very well established subject and most of the national universities teach it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Length of syllabus<\/strong>-Syllabus is short to moderate in length.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of coaching\/ guidance for subject<\/strong>-Good amount of guidance is available, but coaching are very few<\/li>\n<li><strong>Success rate of subject-<\/strong>It is one of the most successful subject in IFS\/IFoS examination ,with lot of Agriculture graduates making it to final list, even many of non agri graduates make it to final list.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Only con of this Optional, may be, is you have to compete with agriculture graduates\/pg\/phds.<\/p>\n<h4>\u2022 Agricultural Engineering<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Marks Fetching ability of subject<\/strong>-Fair to good.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of books for subject<\/strong>-difficult to procure from market.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Length of syllabus<\/strong>-Syllabus is \u00a0moderate in length.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of coaching\/ guidance for subject<\/strong>-very less amount of guidance is available, also coaching are very few.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Success rate of subject-<\/strong>It is one of the average successful subject in IFS\/IFoS examination<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>\u2022 Animal Husbandry &amp; Veterinary Science<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Marks Fetching ability of subject<\/strong>-Fair to good.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of books for subject<\/strong>-Fairly available in market, as its very well established subject and most of the national universities teach it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Length of syllabus<\/strong>-Syllabus is moderate to long in length.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of coaching\/ guidance for subject<\/strong>-Fair amount of guidance is available, but coaching are very few<\/li>\n<li><strong>Success rate of subject-<\/strong>It is one of the fairly successful subject in IFS\/IFoS examination .<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Only con of this Optional, may be, is you have to compete with agriculture and veterinary professionals.<\/p>\n<h4>\u2022 Botany<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Marks Fetching ability of subject<\/strong>&#8211; Fair to good.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of books for subject<\/strong>-Poorly available in market, its very well established subject but right books are difficult to procure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Length of syllabus<\/strong>-Syllabus is moderate to lengthy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of coaching\/ guidance for subject<\/strong>-Fair amount of guidance is available, almost no coaching is\u00a0 available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Success rate of subject-<\/strong>It is one of the fairly successful subject in IFS\/IFoS examination ,as a lot of people with Geography take it and hence large number most of aspirants make it to final list.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Only con of this Optional, is that along with forestry combo, you need some luck also to clear this Examination.<\/p>\n<h4>\u2022 Mathematics<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Marks Fetching ability of subject<\/strong>&#8211; Good to Excellent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of books for subject<\/strong>-Readily available in market, as its very well established subject and almost all of the national universities teach it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>length of syllabus<\/strong>-Syllabus is moderate to lengthy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability of coaching\/ guidance for subject<\/strong>&#8211;
