The Jammu & Kashmir administration has decided to translocate three fully-grown Chinar trees from elsewhere to the Char Chinar Island, where the decayed trees once stood in the \u2018green\u2019 of health.<\/span><\/p>\n Char Chinar<\/b> also sometimes called <\/span>Char Chinari<\/b>, <\/span>Ropa Lank<\/b> or <\/span>Rupa Lank<\/b> is an island in Dal Lake, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u200b\u200bChinar trees characteristically grow in Eastern Himalayas. Their botanical name is <\/span>Platanus orientalis.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n Type<\/strong>: It is a large, deciduous tree known for its longevity and spreading crown.<\/p>\n These trees have survived for ages because Chinar is basically a long-living tree. It spreads wide across a region of cool climate with sufficient water.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Application of Chinar tree<\/strong>: 1) Leaves and bark<\/strong> – medicine, 2)\u00a0<\/span>Wood<\/strong> – It is known as lacewood<\/strong>.
