The Union Minister for Culture inaugurated one of its kind conference on Indian temple architecture, \u2018Devayatanam\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n Organized by: <\/b>Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) of Ministry of Culture.<\/span><\/p>\n Purpose: <\/b>It is a conference on the journey of Indian Temple Architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n Aim:<\/b><\/p>\n \u2013 To deliberate upon the philosophical, religious, social, economic, technical, scientific, art and architectural aspects of the temple.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 To initiate a dialogue on the evolution and development of the various styles of temple architecture such as the Nagara, Vesara, Dravida, Kalinga and others.<\/span><\/p>\n Hindu temples are a combination of art and science<\/b> which includes Shilpa sastra, vasthu sastra, geometry and symmetry.<\/span><\/p>\n For instance, <\/b>Temples of Hampi are already featured in the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Further, the Government has proposed Hoysala temples of Belur and Somnathpur<\/a> to the UNESCO World Heritage List.<\/span><\/p>\n Major Styles of Temples:<\/b> There are three major styles of setting up temples in India known as <\/span>Nagara, Dravidian and Vesara.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 <\/span>Dashavatara Temple in Devgarh(UP) is <\/b>of Nagara styl<\/b>e which is prevalent between the Himalayas and the Vindhya mountains.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 <\/span>Kailasanathar temple in Kanchi (Tamil Nadu) is <\/b>Dravidian style temple<\/b>, developed on the land of Krishna and Kaveri River and\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 <\/span><\/i>Papanatha temple from Karnataka is one of the examples of <\/b>Vesara style <\/b>(Vesara <\/span>is a hybrid form of Nagara and Dravidian style).<\/span><\/p>\n Source<\/b>: This post is based on the article \u201c<\/b>Union Minister for Culture inaugurates one of its kind conference on Indian temple architecture Devayatanam<\/b>\u201d <\/b>published in PIB <\/b>on 25th February 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
