Around 16% (upper layers of the bamboo) is used for manufacturing bamboo sticks. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the remaining 84% of bamboo is discarded as waste. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bamboo waste generated in Agarbatti and bamboo craft industries is not being utilized commercially. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence, the bamboo input cost for round bamboo sticks is very high compared to countries like China.<\/span><\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\"><strong>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/kvics-project-bold-to-boost-tribals-income-and-bamboo-based-economy-in-rajasthan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KVIC\u2019s Project BOLD to Boost Tribals\u2019 Income and Bamboo-based Economy in Rajasthan<\/a><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h5><b>How can Bamboo waste be effectively utilized?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bamboo waste can be best utilized by making \u201cBamboo Charcoal\u201d which has very limited use within the domestic market, but it is hugely in demand in the international market.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bamboo Charcoal is used for barbeque, soil nutrition and as a raw material for manufacturing activated charcoal.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the Government of India has prohibited the export of Bamboo Charcoal.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What has KVIC urged the Government?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KVIC has urged the Government to lift the \u201cexport prohibition\u201d on bamboo charcoal.
