Union Minister of Railways has inspected the trial of \u2018Kavach\u2019 working system in Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Kavach?<\/b><\/h5>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

KAVACH is an indigenously developed <\/span>Automatic Train Protection(ATP) <\/b>System for Indian Railways.<\/span><\/p>\n

Main Function of Kavach: <\/b>It is <\/span>designed to bring a train to a halt automatically when it notices another train on the same line within a prescribed distance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Developed by<\/b>: <\/span>Research Design and Standards Organisation(RDSO)<\/span><\/a> of the Ministry of Railways <\/span>in collaboration with Indian industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Features of Kavach<\/b><\/h5>\n

\u2013\u00a0 Prevents trains from passing the signal at Danger (Red) and avoiding collisions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Activates the train braking system automatically if the driver fails to control the train as per the speed restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Continuous update of Movement Authority with the display of signal aspects in Driver Machine Interface(DMI)\/Loco Pilot operation cum Indication Panel<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Auto Whistling while approaching Level Crossing Gates<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Prevention of collision between two Locomotives equipped with functional KAVACH<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 SoS Messages during emergency situations<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Centralised live monitoring of Train movements through Network Monitor System.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the significance of Kavach?<\/b><\/h5>\n

1) <\/b>Kavach is one of the cheapest, Safety Integrity Level 4(SIL-4) certified technologies with the probability of an error being 1 in 10,000 years<\/span>. <\/span>2)<\/b> It <\/span>opens avenues of export of this indigenous technology for Railways. <\/span>3) <\/b>It helps the Railways to achieve the goal of “zero accidents”.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
