The Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change has informed Lok Sabha about the <\/span>Indian Cooling Action Plan(ICAP).<\/span><\/p>\n Released by:<\/b> \u200b\u200b <\/span>Ministry for Environment, Forest & Climate Change in 2019<\/span><\/p>\n Aim: <\/b>To provide <\/span>an integrated vision towards cooling across sectors encompassing, <\/span>inter alia, <\/span><\/i>reduction of cooling demand, refrigerant transition, enhancing energy efficiency and better technology options by 2037-38.<\/span><\/p>\n Click Here to read more about ICAP<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n Firstly,<\/b> towards promoting passive cooling in buildings, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has brought out the <\/span>Energy Conservation Building Code(ECBC) <\/span><\/a>for all large commercial (non-residential) buildings.<\/span><\/p>\n Secondly, <\/b>studies on promoting non-Ozone Depleting Substances(ODSs) and low Global Warming Potential based technologies in Cold Chain, Building sector and Public Procurement have been undertaken and reports have been published.<\/span><\/p>\n Thirdly,<\/b> up-skilling and certification of Refrigeration and Air-conditioning(RAC) service technicians have been undertaken under the national skill qualification framework(NSQF) of the <\/span>Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana(PMKVY).<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n India has taken ambitious targets in support of global environmental\u00a0 goals, as\u00a0 evidenced in its:<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 Nationally Determined Contributions(NDCs)<\/b> for combating Climate Change under the Paris Agreement<\/b><\/a><\/span>,<\/b><\/p>\n \u2013 Ratification of the Kigali Amendment<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>to the Montreal Protocol<\/strong> <\/a>for phase down of <\/span>Hydrofluorocarbons,<\/b><\/p>\n \u2013 Restoration of 26 million hectares of degraded land by 2030 under the <\/span>United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification <\/b><\/a>and conserving 30% of land and oceans by 2030.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 India engaged constructively with all member states in the fifth United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA 5.2) in 2022 to develop consensus on the<\/span> resolution for driving global action on plastic pollution<\/a>.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n \u2013 India hosted the Conference of Parties to the <\/span>United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in 2019<\/b> and the Convention on the <\/span>Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals in 2020.<\/b><\/p>\n Source<\/b>: This post is based on the article \u201cIndian Cooling Action Plan\u201d <\/b>published in PIB <\/b>on 15th Mar 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
