The Government of India has been taking steps to <\/span>promote exports of locally sourced Geographical Indications(GI) tagged agricultural products.<\/span><\/p>\n Exports of GI Products: <\/b>Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority(APEDA) has been facilitating exports of GI Products:<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 Some of the products include<\/b>\u00a0Naga Mircha (King Chilli) from Nagaland<\/a>, Black Rice from Manipur and Assam<\/a>, three GI varieties of Mango (Fazli, Khirsapati, and Laxman Bhog) from West Bengal, GI variety of Mango (Zardalu) from Bihar<\/a>, Shahi Litchi from Muzaffarpur district<\/a> of Bihar and Banaganapalle Mango from Andhra Pradesh.<\/span><\/p>\n Organizing Buyer Seller Meets: <\/b>Government has been organizing buyer-seller meets to promote:<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 <\/span>Unique GI Products from the North Eastern Region<\/b> such as Manipur Black Rice (Chak-Hao), Meghalaya Khasi Mandarin, Assam Kaji Nemu, Karbi Anglong Ginger and Tripura Queen Pineapple.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 Moreover, GI Products from other regions are also being promoted <\/b>such as Kesar Mango, Jalgaon Banana from Maharashtra, Kandhamal Turmeric from Odisha<\/a>, Bangalore Rose Onion from Karnataka, Kalanamak Rice from Uttar Pradesh, Madurai Malli from Tamil Nadu etc.<\/span><\/p>\n In-Store Promotional Programmes<\/b>: APEDA has also organized in-store promotional programmes in importing countries in association with foreign retailers for GI-tagged products such as Nanjangud Banana from Karnataka.<\/span><\/p>\n Source<\/b>: This post is based on the article \u201c<\/b>Centre focuses on promoting exports of GI-tagged niche agricultural products<\/b>\u201d <\/b>published in PIB <\/b>on 21st Mar 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What is the News?
