{"id":175751,"date":"2022-03-24T21:03:08","date_gmt":"2022-03-24T15:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=175751"},"modified":"2022-03-24T21:03:08","modified_gmt":"2022-03-24T15:33:08","slug":"teachable-moments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/teachable-moments\/","title":{"rendered":"Teachable moments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News: <\/strong>The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken a decision to hold the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate admissions to all 45 centrally funded universities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Issues that remain to be clarified: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CUET is expected to provide a level playing field to a great extent. However certain issues still remain to be clarified. Such as:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Handling of Supernumerary admissions<\/strong> such as through the quota for sports and extracurricular activities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Role of Class XII board exams<\/strong> in the admission process. Whether the CUET supersedes them or some colleges will prescribe a minimum cut-off.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Disadvantage to state board exams <\/strong>as\u00a0 the syllabus for the exam will be the prescribed Class XII National Council of Educational Research and Training curriculum.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nature of exam: <\/strong>It must avoid the pitfall of following a set pattern of variable questions, eventually creating a set of standard Q&amp;As that students merely have to learn by rote.
