Wildlife conservationists have expressed concern after locals spotted a few desert foxes, found in the scrub forests of Rajasthan\u2019s Jaisalmer district, suffering from a loss of fur due to the Mange Skin Disease.<\/span><\/p>\n Mange<\/span> i<\/span>s a type of <\/span>skin disease<\/span> of animals caused by <\/span>parasitic <\/b>mites.<\/b><\/p>\n The disease is <\/b>characterized by<\/b> inflammation, itching, thickening of the skin and hair loss<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n Caused by:<\/b> The most severe form of mange is caused by the parasitic mite <\/span>Sarcoptes scabiei<\/span><\/i>, which also causes human sca<\/span>bies<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Transmission:<\/b> The disease is transmitted between animals by direct contact and by objects that have been in contact with infected animals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 <\/span>Humans can also catch sarcoptic mange from dogs,<\/b> but the mites involved cannot complete their life cycle in human skin.
