It must be able to meet the everyday needs<\/strong> of Indian national nationals from the outside world, like assuring our national security. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Foreign policy is the link to the outside world<\/strong>. It must pass the test like It enables us to draw what we need for everyday need, like technology or capital, best practices, or even work opportunities.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n At Personal level<\/span><\/b>: (1)<\/strong> For a student, it means ease of getting visas, the ability to travel during times of Covid, employment after studies, safely evacuation of the Indian nationals from the geopolitical crisis like Russia-Ukraine Conflict 2022, (2)<\/strong> For a businessperson, it mean access to foreign markets, receiving information about regulations and practices, and where circumstances demand it, assistance to solve problems, and (3)<\/strong> For the professionals and workers, it may be fair employment contracts, protection and welfare measures in times of difficulty etc.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For external or internal security:<\/span><\/b> Diplomacy can help <\/span>prevent<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>mitigate<\/span><\/b> or <\/span>solve<\/span><\/b> a <\/span>security problem.<\/span><\/b> For example, countries can partner against common dangers, like terrorism, radicalization etc.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For an economy<\/span><\/b>: Foreign policy can facilitate the creation of new capacities at home. It helps in <\/span>obtaining capital, technology and best practices<\/span><\/b> from abroad vis-\u00e0-vis information technology, auto manufacturing, food processing, metros or bullet trains, space capabilities or nuclear energy etc. For example, <\/span>Japan<\/span><\/b> was the pioneer in this regard during the <\/span>Meiji era<\/span><\/b>, while <\/span>China<\/span><\/b> after <\/span>Deng Xiaoping<\/span><\/b>. Therefore, it can accelerate <\/span>India\u2019s progress<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>expand employment<\/span><\/b> and <\/span>improve your quality of life<\/span><\/b>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The foreign policy must be able to address <\/span>big issues<\/span><\/b> of like <\/span>Pandemics<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>Terrorism<\/span><\/b>, and <\/span>Climate change<\/span><\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n It is important that our <\/span>foreign policy<\/span><\/b> shape India\u2019s image and influence the narrative prevalent worldwide about India. It matters what other nations think of India, our culture and our way of life.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Indian diplomacy should be able to deal with <\/span>contingencies<\/span><\/b>. For example, the neighbours (like <\/span>China<\/span><\/b>) may be unpredictable due to divergence of interests. Therefore, the policy must be able to show capabilities and deterrence.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n There were <\/span>six broad objectives<\/span><\/b> that were spelt out to the <\/span>policy-makers and implementers:<\/span><\/b>. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n One<\/strong><\/em>, we must bring about a change in the way of thinking about us in the world.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Two<\/strong><\/em>, we should create a partnership which is on more equal terms, and more generous with smaller countries.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Three<\/strong><\/em>, the global agenda and the big issues of our times should be shaped by India as much as possible.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Four,<\/strong> foreign relationships should be actively explored and leveraged for domestic development and progress.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Five<\/strong><\/em>, the very conceptualisation of India\u2019s foreign policy should be guided by a people-centric approach.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Six<\/strong><\/em>, our culture, traditions and thoughts should be able to influence international debates and initiatives. For example, Yoga and Ayurveda were obvious examples in this regard.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n India has entered into the 75<\/span>th<\/span> year of independence. We are going to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
