Every year on the 26<\/span>th<\/span> of March, people around the world take an hour off the electricity by switching off their lights at homes and offices as a show of support for the conservation of energy during Earth Hour.<\/span><\/p>\n Started by: <\/b>World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)<\/span><\/a> in 2007.<\/span><\/p>\n Held on:<\/b> It is an annual event that takes place on <\/span>the last Saturday of March<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Purpose:<\/b> To encourage people from more than 180 countries to<\/span> switch off the lights from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm as per their local time.<\/b><\/p>\n The idea behind this is to <\/span>refrain from the use of non-essential lighting<\/b> to save energy in a symbolic call for environmental protection.<\/span><\/p>\n Objective: <\/b>To increase awareness and spark global conversations on protecting nature, tackling the climate crisis, and working together to shape a brighter future for humans.<\/span><\/p>\n The theme for 2022:<\/b> Shape Our Future<\/span><\/p>\n Significance<\/b>: It <\/span>is the world\u2019s largest grassroots movement for the environment.
