{"id":178758,"date":"2022-04-11T20:29:25","date_gmt":"2022-04-11T14:59:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=178758"},"modified":"2022-04-12T08:31:02","modified_gmt":"2022-04-12T03:01:02","slug":"a-trade-deal-that-will-create-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/a-trade-deal-that-will-create-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"A trade deal that will create jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News: <\/strong>India and Australia have recently signed a trade agreement called the <strong>India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement <\/strong>or <strong>IndAusECTA. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What does this mean?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This deal will eliminate tariffs on more than <strong>85% of Australian goods <\/strong>entering India and <strong>almost all of Indian goods<\/strong> entering Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Australian exports to India of sheep meat, wool, coal, alumina, metallic ores, including manganese, copper, nickel and critical minerals will be tariff free.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, for Indian exports to Australia of jewellery, cosmetics, bed linen, clothing, paints, automotive parts and furniture.<\/p>\n<p>Australia will get <strong>access to the fast and rapidly growing Indian market<\/strong>, while Indian companies will enjoy <strong>cheap supply of energy, raw material and intermediate goods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In India, this will <strong>create at least 1 million jobs in labour-intensive sectors<\/strong> like textiles, leather and pharmaceuticals.<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s concern about its agriculture and dairy sectors are also respected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will it also open the door to movement of people?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through <strong>IndAusECTA, <\/strong>Australia will help more Indians gain education and experience. Australia will increase post-study work visa durations for Indian graduates.<\/p>\n<p>It will ensure that Australia\u2019s service providers remain competitive compared to India\u2019s future trading partners. Australia will also eliminate double taxation on IT firms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Way forward:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A strong and prosperous Indo-Pacific is in the world\u2019s interest.
