In fact, India\u2019s relations with two key countries of the <\/span>Anglosphere<\/span><\/b>(the US and Australia) are better than those with Britain.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Historically, Britain has been tilted towards Pakistan. This has complicated India-Britain Relationship. For example, Earlier<\/span> Tories (Political Party) <\/span><\/b>were empathetic to Pakistan not India.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Now <\/span>India\u2019s internal issues <\/span><\/b>are getting politicised in Britain. For example, the <\/span>Labour Party <\/span><\/b>targets India for its position on Kashmir. It is also shaped by the <\/span>large South Asian diaspora<\/span><\/b> in Britain.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n There are expansive new possibilities in trade, investment, high technology, defence, and regional cooperation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Pakistan\u2019s relative decline in the <\/span>Indian Subcontinent<\/span><\/b> is bound to make it less important in India\u2019s bilateral relations with Britain.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Now, The<\/span> Tory leadership <\/span><\/b>has helped build a number of measures aimed to ensure political confidence with India.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Post-Brexit<\/span><\/b>, Britain needs a number of partners. The Indian economy is set to become <\/span>larger <\/span><\/b>than Britain\u2019s in the next couple of years. Therefore, India is naturally among the top political and economic priorities for Britain.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>regional<\/span><\/b> and <\/span>international circumstances<\/span><\/b> provide a new basis for mutually beneficial engagement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The US has played an important role in transforming the bilateral ties between Delhi and London. It is based on the US premise that a <\/span>stronger India<\/span><\/b> will serve US interests in Asia and the world.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The west is <\/span>strategically committed<\/span><\/b> to assist <\/span>India\u2019s rise<\/span><\/b> due to increasing assertion of <\/span>China <\/span><\/b>in <\/span>Asia<\/span><\/b>. On similar lines, London has also released its own \u201c<\/span>Indo-Pacific tilt<\/span><\/b>\u201d. Therefore, both can have newer roles in the coming future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n India is strategically important for India. It is the <\/span>fifth-largest economy<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>a permanent member <\/span><\/b>of the Security Council, a<\/span> global financial hub,<\/span><\/b> a centre of<\/span> technological innovation<\/span><\/b>, and a leading cyber power.
