{"id":180328,"date":"2022-04-20T19:58:52","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T14:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=180328"},"modified":"2022-04-20T19:58:52","modified_gmt":"2022-04-20T14:28:52","slug":"pm-lays-the-foundation-stone-of-who-global-centre-for-traditional-medicine-in-jamnagar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pm-lays-the-foundation-stone-of-who-global-centre-for-traditional-medicine-in-jamnagar\/","title":{"rendered":"PM lays the foundation stone of WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Prime Minister has laid the foundation stone of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Note: \u200b\u200b<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first Ayurvedic University that was established in the world was also in Jamnagar.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM)?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Setup by:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ministry of Ayush and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World Health Organization(WHO).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Purpose<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It will serve as a knowledge centre for traditional medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Focus Areas: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">T<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he center will focus on five main areas: 1) research and leadership, 2) evidence and learning, 3) data and analytics, 4) sustainability and equity and 5) innovation and technology,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Goals: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">five goals for the new GCTM are:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>First,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to create a database of traditional knowledge system using technology;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Second<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it can create international standards for testing and certification of traditional medicines so that confidence in these medicines improves.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Third<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it should evolve as a platform where global experts of traditional medicines come together and share experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fourth, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it should mobilize funding for research in the field of traditional medicines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Finally,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it should develop protocols for the holistic treatment of specific diseases so that patients could benefit from both traditional and modern medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Significance: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GCTM will be the first and only global outpost centre for traditional medicine across the world.
