Thus, standing out from the cooler red stars in their vicinity in the color-magnitude diagram.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2013 Since they lag their peers in evolution, they are called stragglers more specifically, blue stragglers, because of their hot, blue color.<\/span><\/p>\n First Discovered by:<\/b> Blue stragglers were first discovered by Allan Sandage in 1953 while performing photometry of the stars.<\/span><\/p>\n Blue Stragglers are more massive and energetic than expected may be due to the following reasons:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n First Possibility: <\/b>They do not belong to the family of stars in the cluster and hence are not expected to have the group properties.
