They grow brighter and hotter as indicated by their blue color. Thus, standing out from the cooler red stars in their vicinity in the color-magnitude diagram.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Since they lag their peers in evolution, they are called stragglers more specifically, blue stragglers, because of their hot, blue color.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>First Discovered by:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Blue stragglers were first discovered by Allan Sandage in 1953 while performing photometry of the stars.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Why are blue stragglers more massive and energetic than expected according to the study?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blue Stragglers are more massive and energetic than expected may be due to the following reasons:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>First Possibility: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They do not belong to the family of stars in the cluster and hence are not expected to have the group properties.
