{"id":181276,"date":"2022-04-26T21:17:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T15:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=181276"},"modified":"2022-04-26T21:17:00","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T15:47:00","slug":"a-newly-discovered-episodically-accreting-young-star-could-help-probe-this-rare-group-in-more-details","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/a-newly-discovered-episodically-accreting-young-star-could-help-probe-this-rare-group-in-more-details\/","title":{"rendered":"A newly discovered episodically accreting young star could help probe this rare group in more details"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indian astronomers from the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) as part of an international research have discovered Gaia 20eae.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is Gaia 20eae?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gaia 20eae is an extremely rare group of young stars that exhibit episodic accretion.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What are Episodic Accreting young stars?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Episodically accreting young stars are young, low-mass stars that have not initiated hydrogen fusion in their core and are fuelled by gravitational contraction and deuterium fusion (pre-main-sequence phase of the star).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These pre-main-sequence stars are surrounded by a disc from which it steadily feeds on the matter from the disc-shaped region of gas and dust surrounding the star to gain mass. This process is known as mass accretion from the circumstellar disc of the star.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On occasions their feeding rate increases. This is known as the periods of enhanced mass accretion from their circumstellar disc. During such episodes, the brightness of the star increases by 4-6 magnitudes in the optical bands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So far 25 such rare groups of stars have been discovered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Significance of this discovery: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This discovery could help probe into this group of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Episodic Accreting young stars <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and their formation mechanism in greater detail.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This post is based on the article <\/span><b>\u201c<\/b><b>A newly discovered episodically accreting young star could help probe this rare group in more details<\/b><b>\u201d <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in<\/span><b> PIB <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on<\/span> <b>25th April 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the News?
