These countries together account for 62% of expenditure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Military Expenditure: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The total global military expenditure increased by 0.7% in real terms in 2021 to reach an all-time high of $2.1 trillion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>India: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India was the third-highest military spender in the world behind the US and China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u2013<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> India\u2019s military spending amounting to $76.6 billion in 2021 grew by 0.9% from 2020 and by 33% from 2012.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reason for increase in <\/b><b>India\u2019s military spending<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amid ongoing tensions and border disputes with China and Pakistan that occasionally spill over into armed clashes.
