{"id":181286,"date":"2022-04-26T21:19:43","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T15:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=181286"},"modified":"2022-04-26T21:19:43","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T15:49:43","slug":"children-in-street-situationciss-sc-seeks-steps-for-children-on-streets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/children-in-street-situationciss-sc-seeks-steps-for-children-on-streets\/","title":{"rendered":"Children In Street Situation(CISS): SC seeks steps for Children on Streets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><b>What is the News?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Supreme Court has directed the States and Union Territories(UTs) that have\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not yet framed their own policies to rehabilitate children in street situation(CISS) to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">immediately implement the Standard Operating Procedure for Care and Protection of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children in Street Situation 2.0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>What is S<\/b><b>tandard Operating Procedure for Care and Protection of Children in Street Situation 2.0?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><b>Prepared by: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/nearly-10000-children-in-country-need-immediate-care-ncpcr-tells-sc\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Commission for Protection of Children\u2019s Rights(NCPCR) <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in collaboration with Save the Children, a non-profit organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Aim:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To strengthen the processes and interventions that work towards the welfare of children on the streets and their families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Categories: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The street children have been divided into three broad categories: <strong>1)<\/strong> those who are living on the streets all alone and with no support, <strong>2)<\/strong> those who spend most of their time on the streets but go home to a slum at night and <strong>3)<\/strong> those whose entire families live on the streets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Challenges Faced by Street Children:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 1) Missing care and protection of responsible adults, 2) Forced to work to eat every day, 3) Work in risky occupations on the streets, 4) Poor health and illness due to poor living condition, 5) Exposure to drug and substance abuse, 6) Low level of access to medical care or education and 7) Lack of Identity to link with Social Security Schemes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Key Guidelines: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The core principle adopted in the procedure is looking at the child in the context of the family since family is the first resort for a child.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also focuses on providing social protection to children with and without families<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Further, it also talks about an individual care plan for street children and families strengthening with schemes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Source:\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This post is based on the article <\/span><b>\u201cSC seeks steps for Children on Streets\u201d <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published in<\/span><b> The Hindu <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on<\/span> <b>26th April 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the News?
