{"id":1813,"date":"2019-02-27T14:53:53","date_gmt":"2019-02-27T09:23:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=1813"},"modified":"2019-02-27T14:53:53","modified_gmt":"2019-02-27T09:23:53","slug":"prez-presents-gandhi-peace-awards-salutes-bapus-ideals-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/prez-presents-gandhi-peace-awards-salutes-bapus-ideals-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Prez presents Gandhi Peace awards, salutes Bapu&#8217;s ideals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The President of India has presented the Gandhi\nPeace Prize for the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.The Gandhi Peace Prize was\npresented to a) the Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari for 2015; b) jointly to the\nAkshaya Patra Foundation and the Sulabh International for 2016; c) to the Ekal\nAbhiyan Trust for 2017; and d) to Shri Yohei Sasakawa (from Japan) for 2018.<\/li><li>Vivekananda Kendra, a Spiritual Oriented Service\nOrganization, has been awarded for its contribution in promoting self-help,\nsustainability and development throughout&nbsp;India, especially in tribal\nareas.<\/li><li>The Akshaya Patra Foundation, an NGO for\nchildren, has been awarded for efforts in advancing education and cognition by\nworking to remove hunger and enhance nutrition.<\/li><li>The Sulabh International, a non-profit voluntary\nsocial organisation, has been a sanitation pioneer and has advocated the merits\nof sanitation and use of toilet.<\/li><li>The Ekal Abhiyan Trust, a NGO, has been awarded\nfor its contribution in education sector and help children especially girls access\neducation.<\/li><li>Y\u014dhei Sasakawa, the World Health Organization\nGoodwill Ambassador for Leprosy Elimination, has been instrumental in helping\nIndia prevent and eradicate leprosy.<\/li><li>Gandhi Peace Prize for Social, Economic and\nPolitical transformation through Non-violence is an annual award instituted in\nthe year 1995. The award is dedicated to the ideals and principles of peace and\nharmony propagated by the Mahatma Gandhi.
