The Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting has announced the World\u2019s largest film restoration project under National Film Heritage Mission(NFHM).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Launched in: <\/b>2016 by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Aim:<\/b> To <\/span>preserve, restore and digitize India’s cinematic heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n Objectives of the mission:<\/b> 1)<\/b> Condition assessment of film reels to ascertain the remaining life of the film, <\/span>2)<\/b> 2K\/4K picture and sound restoration of landmark films of Indian and recording of new picture and sound inter-negatives of each film, <\/span>3) <\/b>Digitization of films, <\/span>4) <\/b>Construction of archival and preservation facilities called vaults, <\/span>5) <\/b>Training and workshops for in-house capacity building and <\/span>6) <\/b>Web-based end to end IT solution.<\/span><\/p>\n Implementing Agency<\/b>: National Film Archives of India (NFAI).<\/span><\/p>\n Significance:<\/b> It is one of the world\u2019s largest film preservation missions.<\/span><\/p>\n Setup in: <\/b>1964 as a media unit of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.<\/span><\/p>\n Aim: <\/b>To acquire and preserve Indian cinematic heritage.
