The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change addressed the fifteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)<\/a> in C\u00f4te d’Ivoire.<\/span><\/p>\n The UNCCD Conference of the Parties (COP) was established by the Convention as its main decision-making body.<\/span><\/p>\n It is made up of governments and organizations such as the European Union and is responsible for guiding the Convention so that it can respond to global challenges and national needs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The COP has been meeting biennially since 2001 and has held 14 sessions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Note<\/b>: <\/span>India had hosted the 14th session of the Conference of Parties of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in 2019 in New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n Held at: <\/b>C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Focus Areas:<\/b> Drought, land restoration, and related enablers such as land rights, gender equality and youth empowerment are among the top items on the Conference agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n Theme:<\/b> \u2018Land.
