The bidding process could throw up controversies that defeat long-term objectives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second,<\/strong> India has achieved 90% indigenisation in the \u2018float\u2019 (hull and superstructure) component of warship-building. However, the \u2018move\u2019 (propulsion) and \u2018fight\u2019 (weapons) components are still at 60% and 50% indigenisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third,<\/strong> most of our indigenisation success has been in auxiliary and spares. For example; after failure of Kaveri project, we are yet to develop a fully indigenous aero-engine for military aircraft.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fourth,<\/strong> we need to significantly up our investment in R&amp;D.
